Text Box:

This poem was written by Rob Spence.

Whilst his daughter Rachel was ill and he used to look after her he wrote the beginning of a poem, however the poem could not be finished. When Rachel died the poem was able to be finished and the poem was read out at her funeral.

God gave us an Angel, we call her Rachel Spence,

But now he wants her back again,

Tell me how can this make sense,

She's always bright an bubbly and her smile would

make your day, she would stop and talk to anyone,

Gobby some might say.

Now as she lies here next to me, her life slowly drains away,

I pray to God and ask him, 'Is there any other way,

to make her well again, and take the pain away'

Now every day's a bonus and we're grateful she's still here,

she's our little Angel and we hold her 'Oh so dear'

And if you want our Rachel please give her

a good few years, so she can touch the lives of others,

The way she's done with ours.

He Couldn't Help

God gave us an Angel, we call her Rachel Spence,

God has taken her back again and now it

makes perfect sense, she can swim with Dolphins

and watch over us every day she's our guardian Angel

and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Now as we all sit here sadly,

as we lay her down to rest, Remember

God only took our Rachel,

Because he only wants the best.

Your Loving Dad.
